Rathsallagh Golf Club originally opened in 1994 and sits in 530 acres of parkland near Dunlavin, County Wicklow. Under new ownership since late 2015, it has been brought back to its previous splendour and is a magnificent course. It was designed by Peter McEvoy and Christy O'Connor Jnr.
Rathsallagh is a course built to championship standard, routed over gently rolling terrain with a number of burns, ditches and ponds to bring water into play at several holes. Mature trees flank most fairways, the construction and positioning of bunkers is quite exceptional and the greens were built to USGA specification.
The overall yardage from the back tees can reach 7,200 yards so it is perhaps no surprise to learn that the standard scratch score is two more than the par of 72 – as good an indication as any to the demands of scoring well at Rathsallagh. The Course is beautifully maintained by Course Superintendent Bobby Fisher and his Staff.
